Sesame Asparagus

Sesame Asparagus

24 asparagus spears, about 1 ½ pounds
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1 12 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

Trim asparagus and cut on the diagonal into 1-inch pieces. Heat butter in skillet and cook asparagus, tossing and shaking pan, about 1 minute. Sprinkle with sugar, toss and cook an additional 30 seconds. Sprinkle and cook for 30 seconds. Do not overcook. Sprinkle asparagus with sesame seeds and serve.

Love this! Wanted to share that I prepare sesame green beans in much the same way, but blanch the green beans, drain them well and saute in a bit of canola and sesame oil, with finely sliced onion, then stir in the soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds. Happy day, McKenzie!
