Betty’s Apple Bundles

Betty’s Apple Bundles
This recipe came from my friend, Betty Benson

2 large Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and each apple cut into 8 wedges
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
1 (12 ounce) can Mountain Dew

Preheat oven to 375. Divide crescent rolls into 16 triangles. Wrap each piece of crescent dough around a piece of apple, being sure to cover the apple completely. Place apple bundles in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish, 4 bundles by 4 bundles. Melt butter over low heat. Add sugar and mix well. Pour butter and sugar mixture over bundles. Open the can of Mountain Dew and pour over the apple bundles. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly. Serve immediately with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce drizzled on top,

Makes 8 servings

Note: Do not bake this recipe off unless you are ready to serve dessert. This recipe does not do well if it cools down and comes to room temperature-it is an ooey gooey mess.
