Orange Cranberry Scones
2 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons chilled butter, cubed
1 cup Craisins
½ cup cold whole buttermilk
1 egg, well beaten
Turbinado sugar for topping scones
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Pulse several times until mixture is blended. Add chilled butter cubes and pulse several times until a sandy mixture forms. Through the feed tube, pour the buttermilk and pulse until a ball begins to form. Remove dough from processor and knead in Craisins. Form dough into an 8-inch circle and cut into 8 equal pieces. Place triangles on a parchment lined baking sheet. Brush triangles with beaten egg and sprinkle, generously, with Turbinado sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 17 minutes or until golden brown.
