Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp
From my grandmother, Olga Tansill Aiken

3 apples, peeled, cored and thickly sliced
2 teaspoons lemon juice, optional
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup white granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
½ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup quick oatmeal (not instant)

Place apple slices in a buttered 9-inch baking dish. Toss with lemon juice, if desired. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Mix together remaining ingredients, until a crumbly mixture forms. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on top.

Makes 6 servings
